Jan Heath Schwanke, M.A., CCC/SLP received her BA in Speech and Hearing Science, and her MA in Speech Pathology from the University of Iowa. She is certified by the American Speech-Language -Hearing Association and licensed in the state of Illinois.
Ms. Schwanke recently retired from many years in the public schools in Chicago’s northern suburbs, where she had broad experience with children from age 3 – 15 with receptive and expressive language disorders as well as articulation, voice, and fluency difficulties. She initiated a social language intervention program with the social worker in her district, and has particular expertise in the area of word finding.
She has presented to various professional groups on the topic, including the Illinois Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Ms. Schwanke is also an adjunct instructor in Special Education at National-Louis University in Chicago, Illinois.
