Karen Shane Lapinski, Ed.S. is an educationally licensed school psychologist in the state of Illinois and is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists. She received her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her M.Ed. and Ed.S. in School Psychology from the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Lapinski has significant experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities including those diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, and genetic disorders.
She worked for several years for a special education cooperative, planning and implementing social and behavioral interventions as part of a transdisciplinary team. Currently a team member of a public high school in Chicago’s northern suburbs, Dr. Lapinski has continued her work with teens with developmental disabilities, initiating a social language intervention program with the speech and language therapists in her district and working with a special education team to provide transition services to young adults ages 18-22.
In her current role, she also provides executive functioning and emotional regulation interventions for students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and learning disabilities.
Dr. Lapinski has also been a part of Camp One in a Hundred, Inc. since 2013. This clinically based summer day camp provides intensive social cognitive skill training to students who have challenges in social communication abilities resulting from Apserger’s Syndrome, PDD-NOS, High-Functioning Autism, ADHD, Non-Verbal Learning Disorder, and Anxiety Disorders.
